Spengler Nathanson Expands Appellate Practice With the Addition of Karin L. Coble

Spengler Nathanson is pleased to announce that Karin L. Coble has joined the firm, bringing with her more than 21 years of focused appellate experience. Karin’s arrival strengthens the firm’s appellate practice and expands the services available to clients throughout Ohio.

Karin joins the firm after operating a successful statewide appellate practice devoted exclusively to state‑court appeals. Her work has included the prosecution and defense of appeals arising from criminal convictions, civil judgments, domestic‑relations matters, and juvenile‑court decisions. She has represented clients before the Ohio Supreme Court and appellate districts across the state.

Karin’s appellate foundation began at the Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals, where she served as a staff attorney to Judges William J. Skow and Peter Handwork, as well as numerous visiting judges. During her tenure, she drafted hundreds of appellate decisions and gained deep insight into judicial reasoning and the appellate decision‑making process. She later expanded her trial‑court experience as a law clerk for the Sylvania Municipal Court.

Before joining Spengler Nathanson, Karin operated the Law Office of Karin L. Coble from 2011 to 2026. She also practiced with Albrechta & Coble, Ltd., supporting complex civil litigation and handling civil appeals. In addition to her legal practice, Karin spent many years teaching at the University of Toledo, where she instructed both law students and undergraduates in Legal Ethics, Contracts, Administrative Law, Legal Research and Writing, Philosophy of Law, Logic, and related subjects.

Karin is an active member of the legal community. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Toledo Women’s Bar Association and participates in the Lucas County Bar Association, the Sandusky County Bar Association, and the Appellate Committee and Criminal Defense Committee of the Toledo Bar Association.
