Celebrating the Career of David G. Wise, Spengler Nathanson Attorney for Nearly 60 Years
May 18, 2026

On February 27, 2026, Attorney David G. Wise retired after nearly 60 years of practice with Spengler Nathanson. Dave joined the firm on June 1, 1967, and over the decades became a steady and respected presence in the office and in the northwest Ohio legal community. He brought a thoughtful, measured approach to his work and was known for his practical judgment, calm demeanor, and genuine commitment to the people he served.
Dave’s practice covered a wide range of areas, including business and corporate law, commercial and construction matters, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, trial work, and estate and tax planning. He also advised clients in elder law. Throughout his career, colleagues appreciated his willingness to share his experience and perspective, and many sought him out for guidance on difficult or unusual issues.
He was licensed in both Ohio and Michigan and admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the U.S. Tax Court. Dave remained active in the Toledo, Ohio, and Michigan Bar Associations and was a long‑time member of the Lucas County Bar Association, reflecting his enduring commitment to the local legal community.
Dave’s service extended well beyond the practice of law. He served as President of the Perrysburg Board of Education and participated in several civic organizations over the years. He was also involved with the Downtown Coaches Association, a group that has supported University of Toledo athletics since 1937 and continues to connect the community with UT sports. In addition, Dave was a long‑standing member of the Perrysburg Rotary Club, serving as Club President from 1993–1994 and later as a Trustee of the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation.
Dave graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1967 and from Wittenberg University in 1964 with a degree in Economics and Accounting. During his undergraduate years, he was active in the Economics Honorary, played Varsity Baseball, and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He was also a proud graduate of DeVilbiss High School in Toledo.
We thank Dave Wise for his many years of dedication to the firm and to the community. His steady presence, mentorship, and commitment to service have left a lasting mark on Spengler Nathanson and on the many people who had the privilege of working with him.
